About the Image to Text (OCR)
The Img Stop Image to Text tool uses OCR, or optical character recognition, to turn printed words in a picture into text you can edit. It is powered by the Tesseract engine and runs fully in your browser. There are 19 language options, including English, Urdu, an English + Urdu mix, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Persian, Punjabi, Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
OCR saves you from typing text by hand from screenshots, notices, book pages, receipts and scanned documents. Before reading, the tool can enlarge the image, turn it gray and add contrast, which helps with small or faint text. Each result shows a confidence score and word count. Urdu, Arabic and Persian text is shown right to left. Language data downloads once, then it is cached.

Frequently asked questions
Can this tool read Urdu text from an image?
Yes. Choose Urdu – اردو as the Text language, or English + Urdu if the image has both. The text is shown right to left in the result box. Clear printed Urdu gives the best results, while very small or stylish fonts can cause mistakes.
Why is the text from my image wrong or messy?
Common causes are the wrong language setting, blurry photos, low light, tilted pages and busy backgrounds. Choose the right language, keep Enhance image ticked, crop to the text area and use a sharp, straight photo. Then try again.
Does the OCR tool work with handwriting?
The Tesseract engine is made for printed text. Very neat handwriting may partly work, but most handwritten notes will have many errors. For best results, use typed or printed text such as documents, screenshots and signs.
What does the confidence percentage mean?
Confidence shows how sure the OCR engine is about the text it read. A high number usually means clean results. A low number means you should check the text carefully, or try a clearer image or another language setting.
Why is the first scan slow?
The first time, your browser downloads the OCR engine and the data for the chosen language, and you can see the progress. This happens once per language. After that, the files are cached and new images are read much faster.
