About the Background Remover
The Img Stop Background Remover cuts the main subject out of a photo automatically. It uses an AI segmentation model, MODNet by default, that runs inside your browser with WebAssembly, or with WebGPU when your device supports it. The first time you use it, the model downloads once and your browser caches it, so the next photos are faster. Your photos never leave your device.

How to use the Background Remover

How do I make the background of a photo transparent?
Add the photo, keep Result set to Transparent and choose PNG or WebP as the format. Click Remove background. The AI erases everything except the main subject, and the downloaded file has a see-through background you can place on any design.
Why does it take longer the first time?
On first use your browser downloads the AI model, and the status shows the download progress. The browser then caches the model, so next time it loads from your device and starts much faster.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The AI model runs inside your own browser, and the photo is processed on your phone or computer. Your images are never uploaded to Img Stop or anyone else. Only the model file itself is downloaded from a public server the first time.
Can I put a white background on a product photo?
Yes. Choose Color under Result and pick white, or any other color. Tick Crop to subject to remove extra empty space. Save as JPG for a small file that works on any store, or PNG for the best quality.
What kind of photos work best?
The tool works best on clear photos of people, products, animals and cars where the subject stands out from the background. Fine hair, glass and objects with the same color as the background are harder, and the edges may need a second try with a cleaner photo.
