About the Barcode Generator

Barcode generator – Barcode Generator

The Img Stop Barcode Generator creates scannable barcodes for products, cartons, libraries, inventory and labels. It supports the retail formats EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and UPC-E, the flexible Code 128 and Code 39, ITF-14 for shipping cartons, plus MSI, Codabar and Pharmacode.

Input is checked as you type: for EAN, UPC and ITF-14 the check digit is calculated automatically, or a wrong one is spotted and fixed with one click. Style the barcode, rotate it, and download a sharp PNG at up to 5× resolution or a vector SVG for print. Bulk mode turns a list of values into a ZIP of barcodes.

When to use it

  • Print EAN-13 or UPC-A barcodes for product packaging.
  • Make Code 128 labels for inventory, assets and warehouses.
  • Create ITF-14 barcodes for shipping cartons.
  • Generate library and membership cards with Codabar or Code 39.
  • Produce hundreds of numbered labels from a spreadsheet column.

Tips for the best result

  • Retail EAN and UPC numbers must be issued by GS1 – generating a barcode does not register a number.
  • Use SVG for printing so the bars stay perfectly sharp at any size.
  • Keep dark bars on a light background; red or low-contrast colours may not scan.
  • Leave the quiet zone (margin) on – scanners need empty space at both ends.
  • Always test-scan a printed sample before ordering labels.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a barcode?

Open the Img Stop Barcode Generator, choose the barcode type, type your number or text and download the barcode as PNG or SVG.

Does it add the check digit?

Yes. Enter 12 digits for EAN-13, 7 for EAN-8, 11 for UPC-A or 13 for ITF-14 and the check digit is added. If you enter the full number with a wrong check digit, the tool tells you and offers a fix.

Which barcode type should I use?

Use EAN-13 (or UPC-A in North America) for retail products, Code 128 for general labels with letters and numbers, and ITF-14 for outer cartons.

Can I make many barcodes at once?

Yes. Choose “Many (one per line)”, paste your values and click Create all & download ZIP. Invalid lines are skipped and listed.

Do I need to register my barcode number?

For products sold in shops, yes – EAN and UPC numbers come from GS1. Internal codes such as Code 128 or Code 39 labels do not need registration.

Are the barcodes free to use?

Yes, with no watermark. They are generated in your browser.
