About the Diamond Painting Pattern Generator

Diamond painting pattern generator – Diamond Painting Pattern Generator

The Img Stop Diamond Painting Pattern Generator turns your photo into a custom diamond art chart. Choose a standard canvas size from 20 × 20 to 100 × 100 cm or your own width, and the tool works out how many 2.5 mm drills fit across and down, crops the photo to the canvas shape and reduces it to the number of colours you want.

Every colour is matched to a DMC code, the numbering diamond painting kits use, so you can order drills by number. The legend lists the symbol, DMC code, name, drills placed, drills with spare and bags per colour. Preview the result as square or round drills, or as a colour or symbol chart, before you download. Your photo never leaves your device.

When to use it

  • Design a custom diamond painting of a pet or family photo.
  • Make a personalised gift kit and know exactly which drills to order.
  • Check how a photo looks as square or round drills before buying a canvas.
  • Print a chart to make your own canvas with a printed adhesive sheet.
  • Count the drills for a club project or classroom activity.

Tips for the best result

  • Use 30–50 colours for photos and 10–20 for cartoons and logos.
  • Larger canvases show more detail – a face needs at least 40 × 50 cm.
  • Order 10–20 % spare drills; small drills get lost easily.
  • Square drills give a full, sparkling cover; round drills are quicker to place.

Frequently asked questions

How many drills fit on a canvas?

With standard 2.5 mm drills there are 4 drills per centimetre. A 40 × 50 cm canvas holds 160 × 200 = 32,000 drills. The tool shows the drill grid and total for every size.

Why are diamond painting colours DMC numbers?

Most diamond painting kits and drill shops number their drills with the DMC thread codes, so a DMC number lets you order the right colour from almost any supplier.

Square or round drills – which should I choose?

Square drills fit edge to edge and give a full, mosaic-like picture. Round drills leave small gaps but are easier and faster to place. The preview shows both.

How many spare drills do I need?

Kits usually include 10–20 % extra. Set the spare percentage and the drills per bag, and the list shows how many bags to buy for each colour.

Can I choose which part of the photo is used?

Yes. When you pick a canvas size, tick "Show the photo to move the crop area" and drag the box. Untick it to see the chart again.
