What is a depth map?
A depth map is a grayscale image where brightness shows distance. In this tool, near things are white and far things are black (or the other way round with Invert).
Which AI model is used?
Depth Anything V2 Small, an open model (Apache 2.0). It downloads once from Hugging Face and then runs on your device with your graphics card or processor.
How is the 3D photo made?
Each frame moves the pixels of the photo by an amount based on their depth, so near objects shift more than the background – a 2.5D parallax effect.
Why is my video a WebM file?
Some browsers cannot make MP4 files. The tool then records a WebM video, which most apps and websites also accept. You can always use the GIF.
Can I use it for a Facebook 3D photo?
Yes. Download the depth PNG (named …_depth.png) and upload it together with the original photo in the Facebook app or website.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Depth estimation, preview and video export all happen in your browser.
